Houseboat on Lake Arenal

We recently enjoyed a unique vacation experience which other Costa Rica travelers might be interested in considering -- a stay on a houseboat on Lake Arenal under the volcano. (It rained when we were there, but it wasn't the boat's fault.) This might be an appealing choice for small to mid-size groups or families wanting a taste of adventure, but nothing rigorous. The houseboat (Rain Goddess) gets a brief mention in the 2009 Fodor's guide and is pictured at bluwing.com website.

That does sound interesting and different, hop_along. Did you navigate the houseboat around the lake or was it moored somewhere while you stayed on it?

That looks really fun, hopalong - how was the food? It looks like it comes with a chef. I love Lake Arenal; it's close to where we always stay. That's a pretty area.

For the most part, the boat was docked but I imagine some extra touring is a possibility -- also, there is a smaller powerboat and several kayaks attached to the houseboat for guests to use. We toured the lake and did some bird- and monkey-watching with a driver in the smaller boat. .... Yes, there is a great chef on board, one of a very friendly and helpful crew of three.
