Hours to kill near SJO
We'll be flying in at 10:30 am from PJ to catch a 3:25pm flight home. I wanted to take the flight that lands at 1:15, but it made hubby nervous, so I agreed as long as we don't sit in the airport for 5 hours. The problem is, I'm not sure what we could do. Any suggestions for an easy to get to site and/or good place for lunch? We would check in first, so we'd reasonably have about 3 hours to kill.

You might consider taking a tour to The Butterfly Farm - it is pretty close and a great place. You can also just take a taxi to the Central Park in Alajuela, walk around, do some shopping, have some lunch, buy an ice cream and sit in the park and watch the world go by. It is about 5 minutes from the airport and about a $3-5 cab ride, depending on the exchange rate. One good restaurant in the area is Coffee Dreams, about 2 blocks north of the Park but there are several others, including a few Chinese restaurants.
