Hotels With Shade Around Pools

We will be traveling to Cancun this August and are looking for a 4 or 5 star hotel with some shade around the pool. My wife cannot tolerate direct sun for very long. Also, do any of these hotels have a "fun" pool area for kids ages 8-15?
Thanks!
Fred

Try the Moon Palace or the Xpu-Ha Palace they all have palpas near the pool and ocean that have shaded chairs and tables. Also great activites for the kids!

www.palaceresortsmexico.com
you might want to check a bit further south - Playa del Carmen -

We stayed at the Gala but the Iberostar also seemed nice. A quieter area than Cancun - www.locogringo.com

Fred:

I am exactly like your wife and cannot tolerate direct sun very long as well. I stayed at the Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach in Cancun and there was plenty of shade. It's a beautiful hotel with a gorgeous pool and beach area. I don't have children so I wasn't looking out for "fun" pool areas but it was the biggest pool I have ever been in. Check it out!

Also look into the Bahia Principe. We were there this past week and we met many families who were traveling with teenage kids. The resort is big (810 rooms) and is spread over 3/4 acres (not a bad view from any room). Lots of activities too. All pools and shade as well as the beaches. The staff definitely planned alot of fun activities in the main pool as well as there is a "kids" program. I saw them snorkeling one day off the beach and they looked like they were having a blast. let me know if you'd like more info.
