Hotels in Peru

Hi All,
Can any one give me an idea about price difference/per night between 3* and 5* hotels in Peru?
Thanks

Depends upon where in Peru. For example in Cusco we stayed at a 3* in a suite for about $130. The 5* Hotel Monasterios suites run around $500.

Whereabouts in Peru?

In Lima, stay in Miraflores area.

I have never understood the American obsession about paying as much as possible for a room. You're on holiday, you're out all day, you eat out and use a room for little more than sleeping in. As long as it's got a nice bed and is clean, who cares if it has a doorman or if someone calls you Sir/Madam? Is that really worth paying a fortune for?

HiMiky -- perhaps, I compared our 3* hotel in a suite room to a 5* hotel also in a suite room. The Monasterios is the best hotel in Cusco. The other 5 star in Cusco that I am aware of is the Hotel Liberator. Don't know the prices there. 5*s in Lima were also quite pricey as compared to the 3* where we stayed.
Agree that Miraflores is the place to stay in Lima.
Where are you traveling?

Yes, Miraflores is definilty the best place to stay in Lima. Prices are fairly inexpensive - less than $40/night unless you stay at the Hilton or other well-known, luxury hotels.

Thank you all for the information. We intend to travel all over the country from Chiclyo and Chachapoyas in the north to Puno in the south.
