hotels in manuel antonio

Hi,
We are going to CR next week with my 3 teenagers and I am debating between Villas Nicolas and Costa Verde. Anyone have any opinions about the two? We won't have a car, but happy to use the bus. Thanks.

Wow, that's a tough one. I've been to both and like both. Is it just the 4 of you or will there be 5?? All sharing a 'room'? They both have 'two' bedroom places....which is great. One thing to consider is that Costa Verde has a restaurant on site. It's expensive for what you get....IMO, but is nice that it's there. Villas Nicolas does not have a restaurant, but Si Como No does right next door, and one of the best restaurants in town, Karolas, is only a five minute walk.
Other differences are the size of the properties. Villas Nicolas is very small compared to Coste Verde, giving it a more intimate feeling, if that matters to you.

I've never been to Villas Nicolas, but we stayed at Costa Verde last month & LOVED it! The rooms were huge, there are 3 pools, there's a bus stop out front to the beach or into town (for a quarter!), and we saw monkeys all over the place. Good luck in your decision.

Hey Ally,
Thanks for writing. There are 5 of us. What I would really like is a beautiful view, porches with hammocks and a nice, good-sized pool (not asking for much, huh?) So with that, which do you recommend? Thanks alot

I think you'll have a better chance of having a hammock at Villas nicolas. Coste Verde will have chairs and table, but I don't think they have hammocks, where as most rooms at Villas Nicolas have hammocks, plus table and chairs. Both could have beautiful views...depending on the room. Just make sure you request an 'ocean view'...at Villas Nicolas you want room 7-UP or higher. I only saw one of the three pools at Costa Verde. It was non-descript (just a rectangle shape) and not much shade. The pool at Villas Nicolas was a bit smaller (it's a smaller property), was freeform with an attached jacuzzi and had sun or shady spots. Like I said, it's a tough choice and you'd be fine at either property!

Thanks a lot for your help. I've heard alot about the monkeys at Costa Verde. Think the kids would enjoy that so I'll give it a try!
