Hotels in Manuel Antonio
Hi
we will be travelling to CR this coming June. Can't decide between SiComoNo, Villas Nicolas, or Tulemar (all in Manuel Antonio). We are two adults and two kids (11 and 15). Does anyone have any input? Thank You very much,
Kirsten

I stayed at Villas Nicolas last June and loved it, but I would have to go with Si Como No because of the ages of your kids. Si Como No is right next door to Villas Nicolas and we had a couple of meals there. The pool area looked much better for kids (water slides) and they have a movie theater. We saw a lot of families there, so your kids would be more likely to meet other kids at Si Como No. They also have a Internet Cafe in the giftshop.

We stayed at Si Como No last February. Very nice place. Pool area is fun, and the food was good. Also saw monkeys outside our room one morning.

We stayed at Tulemar this past summer with our two boys 10 & 13 years old. I would say it all depends on what you are looking for. SiComoNo is a very lively place in the middle of a lot of activity as above posts say. We picked Tulemar for what it is, a quieter place. It has its own semi-private beach (albeit a good walk down the hill) and a large piece of forested property. We saw white face and squirrel monkeys, sloths, and many birds. Food OK and quiet pool with great view. Bungalows are quite nice and very roomy with nice views. All depends what you are looking for. Tulemar website very true to what you get.

Hi everyone-
Thanks for your input so far. Looks like I have to decide between Tulemar and SiComoNo. I am definitely interested in a room with a great view ( for sitting outside in the evenings with a beer or wine (adults only haha) and watching the sun go down) Any suggestions on specific room, anyone?
Thanks,
Kirsten

We had room # 8 at Si Como No (deluxe category). Very nice and spacious, two king size beds and a great view from the balcony.
Our 7 year old daughter really loved Si Como No so I think your kids would too.

We stayed at Si Como No last year, can't remember the room number, but it wasn't the cheapest catagory. I suspect you might not have a decent view with the cheapest rooms, I think they were the ground floor of the type building we were in, and I suspect all you would see would be trees. Better than a parking lot, but the view from our room was stunning. Realized after getting up the first morning that I would have to be careful not to leave things lying outside on the balcony, there were monkeys very, very close. Sure would hate to lose my library book....

I'm glad there are good reviews for Hotel Si Como No. I'll be there in a couple of weeks in a deluxe room (US$180 per night plus 16.39% tax).

I did read that a new "adults only" pool opened recently, so the kids can go wild in one and the adults can relax in the other.

I'm really looking forward to relaxing in this place after spending 3 nights in both Monteverde and Arenal. I plan to be active up there with hikes, sky treks, etc.

Si Como No is a great choice with a panoramic view. I stayed at room #11 but warning at sundown. The white face monkeys will come right up to your porch and the beautiful sunset view and wine drinking can rapidly go "bananas". We had to run inside. There were 15 monkeys on our porch!!! Great tours in the area. Don't miss the adventure tours at RioSparaiso www.riosparaiso.com. They have a wonderful hot springs and canopy tour deep in the jungles. Have fun!

When we were at Si Como No last year the drunk adults in the 'adults only' pool were a whole lot wilder than the almost non-existent kids in the other pool....Have a great time, it's a nice hotel.

Thanks everyone for your input-
Seems like it will be SiComoNo ( my intital instinct). I guess I will have to share my wine with those visiting monkeys.....If anyone has any other info about Manuel Antonio ( i.e. what to do there) please let me know. Has anyone done the Rainmaker tour? Any info?
Thanks,
Kirsten

Si Como No has either a superior room or a deluxe suite available when we are there. Any thoughts on whether the deluxe is much better or is the superior with partial ocean view just fine?
|
K...We stayed in room #19 at Si Como No and it was great. It was a superior standard room and accomodated us just fine, especially since you may be out of the room most of the time. The views were great and the only "negative" was that you had to walk a few flights of stairs.
