Hotels in Argentina
 

We are planning a trip to Argentina in December and are thinking about staying in the following hotels:

BSAs-Loi Suites Recoltta
Calafate-Hotel De Campo Kau Yatun
Iguazu Falls- Sheraton

Does anyone have any opinions on these hotels?

We stayed at Loi Suites Recoleta last November and were very happy with out choice. The lobby is very nice. Most of the staff speaks fluent English. Their breakfast buffer is outstanding. The rooms are great too (very spacious). We also stayed at Sheraton in Iguazu - very nice hotel right in the park - the only place to stay in Iguazu if you want to be right in the park. The rooms are a bit dated. Having a pool was a great bonus after spending the day in a hot and humid park.

We also stayed at Loi Suites Recoleta and were happy with it and its location.

We liked the Sheraton in Iguazu mainly for its location. Our room may have been dated in decor ( rather like the 70s) but it wasn't at all shabby. We were pleasantly surprised with our room with the falls view.

Actually, the Iguazu Sheraton gets mediocre reviews on the www.tripadvisor.com forums.
We chose Iguazu Grand Hot.
You might want to learn to speak a little restaurant/hotel Spanish.

Actually, Mike, most of the reviews on tripadvisor are not mediocre. There were some who thought it was too expensive but that is relative.

rjbriskin, go to tripadvisor and check for youself.

Oh, and have a nice trip to Argentina. It's a great country!

Why don't you stay in Foz do Iguazu at Mabu Resorts..the hotel is awesome and so is the food, the springs, the swimming pools. They organize vans to take you to the falls - the Brazilian side, from where you will see the Argentinian side. You are going to be very close from the falls, and from the Brazilian side you will have much more options. There is an American company that provides all the infra-structure to the activities related to the eco-tourism there, they are first class. Don't forget to the macuco safari at the falls.

Loi Suites Recoleta is a very well located hotel. Also the feed back I usually receive from my guests lodged there is highly positive.
Sheraton at Iguazu is also well known.
No news about the Calafate HTL.

Re the suggestion to stay on the Brazilian side, you will have to pay $100.00 each for a visa. Additionally, due to drought, it's my understanding that the falls are a trickle compared to the magnificent sight we saw there last year. You might want to check this out before you make reservations.

I too have seen negative comments on the Sheraton on TA. Too expensive, bad food, disinterested staff, etc. We didn't stay there so I can't comment from personal experience.

Giovanna is right about the draught. I was there in May, tough, and the falls were still magnificent! But in June..quite a dissapointment..

The Loi Suites Recoleta is a great choice! My boyfriend and I stayed there during our visit to Buenos Aires in February of this year!
It is within walking distance of La Recoleta Cemetery, where Eva Peron is buried.
There are some great restaurants in the immediate area and further down a park area which has an unusual mall with unique art and furniture shops and more restaurants. We ate at a really chic wine bar which also had terrific food!
The staff and service at the Loi Suites are excellent. Enjoy!!

We just stayed at the Sheraton in Iguazu in early Sept. and found it very convenient. It was too cool for use of the pool, but it was available. Also being in the park allowed hikes to the falls before the crowds of tourists arrived from town. Food was good, staff friendly and helpful. We ate meals from the menu rather than the buffet which was 75 pesos for either lunch or dinner. Prices were higher than normal Argentine prices but worth the convenience and not needing transportation to the park. We had a forest view instead of falls view, and if you aren't in your room except at night, it makes no difference since the falls are dark at night. The water volume was low but far from a trickle, but it was still worth seeing and hearing. It rained the afternoon we left and more rain was expected so it should only get better. The dining room, waiting area and lobby all have falls views, but obviously the best views are using the catwalks or paths to get closer.

As far as a BA hotel, we stayed at the Wilton Hotel at Santa Fe and Callao which was ideally located with shopping, restaurants, banks, coffee shops, and a grocery store easily within walking distance.
