Hotel Rec. for Mayan Riviera

My husband, 1 year old baby and I are planning a trip to the Mayan Riviera/Mexican Caribbean. I have never been there and would love to get recommendations on where to stay and what to do.
Thanks in advance!

there are so many hotels in the area that it would be good to know your price range and requirements...

There are hundred of resorts in the Riviera Maya. Do ytou want all inclusive, big or small, a villa, a condo???What are your interests. I suggest you see a travel agent.

We are looking for a 4 star or higher resort, preferable not all inclusive. Mid-size hotel with a spa, tennis and other amenities. I don't want to stay in something where we will feel like outcasts with a baby or a place with 10,000 other people. Thank you for your help!

the JW Marriott or Casa Magna Marriott or Hilton in Cancun spring to mind. We've stayed at the JW Marriott 2xs, just loved it. It seems most family resorts in the Riviera Maya are all inclusive, although the new Fairmont Mayakoba is beautiful, but quite large and spread out.

I can't think of any that have a spa and tennis in the Playa area that are not all inclusive except for Mayakoba either. This is a very large area from Cancun all the way down by Tulum and has many different kinds of accommodations. I would start either with a map from www.cancunmap.com which Laura and Perry put together. It contains a lot of info about places to stay and their locations and also includes restaurants, places of interest, etc.
