Hotel Parador in MA?
 

Hi,
Has anyone stayed at Hotel Parador in Manuel Antonio? If so, what was your experience? Looks nice on the website, but always better to get first hand reviews...

We stayed there in 98 and I really don't recommend Parador.
First, it is located atop a very steep hill, almost too steep to walk up the road. To et to a beach we were directed to cut through a farm/home's yard, odd.
The service was unbelievably awful. The staff didn't arrive on time to put out breakfast before the daily tours were to leave.
No towels at the pool, ever! Then the room towels disappeared too! We snagged some coming out of the laundry and hid them all week.
The dark, antique decor seemed really out of place for CR.
For the price I'd go to SiComoNo.

I stayed at Parador in 2004, 2005, and two of my students just came back from there last week. Loved it every time, and my students raved about it. It's a beautiful hotel -- I recommend staying off the ground floor for better views. The rooms are basically American style but the hotel has beautiful pools and dining areas, great spa, lots of amenities and I've always had great service there. Yes, it's high on a hill as is most of Manuel Antonio, but that's why the views are so spectacular. Oh, food is excellent too.

I find the hotel a bit of an oddity, and a bit over the top in decor, a bit vegasy IMHO. There are better places to stay. The beach referred to, you need to pass through private property, not the hotels. Someone does live there as they have for years. Lovely little local beach, one of my faves..... When the hotel was being built they cut down huge amounts of rainforest....

Very far from MA down an awful bumpy dirt road. Stay further up the hill.

Have you looked at Costa Verde?

I'll definitely check out Si Como No (which I've also heard good things about) and Costa Verde.
