hotel La Mariposa
Has anyone stayed here? We were also thinking about Si Como No or Costa Verde. I have read those posts. They both sound good. Please advise. Thanks.

I am sure you'll get replies from more recent travelers but thought I would get the ball rolling. We stayed there in Jan. 2005 and it's nice but didn't blow us away. It seemed out of synch with other places we stayed in CR (not as friendly, not great food, not a great room). It's a nice place but just didn't meet our (admittedly high) expectations. I have a trip report somewhere...

I stayed there about a year ago. I had a beautiful view and nice patio/balcony from my room. The room was very nice, and I took a tour of the hotel and saw that there are many different types of rooms and decors. I have a lot of photos if you want to see them -- I can email them to you. I only ate breakfast there -- it was fine. I really liked it -- it was simpler and quieter than some of the others. Compared to the standard rooms at El Parador, Mariposa has nicer rooms, but El Parador has a much fancier hotel with beautiful pools and dining areas. Depends on what you like. I haven't been to the other two places you mentioned.

Hello Sandy, Could you please send me your pictures. We would appreciate it. [email protected]
Thanks. |
I stayed at La Mariposa and I did not like it. I liked every other hotel that I stayed in Costa Rica. I recommend another option.

My husband and I stayed at La Mariposa about five weeks ago. There are pros and cons. The grounds are pretty, though not lavish. The view of the ocean from the dining area is FABULOUS. Breakfast here was OK.
The view is also very pretty from the pool/swim up area. Bartenders were very friendly. It's in a conveniant location too. Not far from town, and we did actually walk to Manual Antonio National Park and the local beach. We just got a standard room, and while it was spacious, it was VERY outdated. We were hardly it it, so it didn't bother me all that much, but for the price we paid, I did expect something a bit nicer. It did have a partial ocean view. I heard great things about Si Como No. The grounds are suppose to be beautiful! |
Audie basically mirrors my sentiments. Here's my trip report if you want to put my comments in perspective (that is, see how I rated other aspects of the trip):
