hotel kekoldi

Going to CR early June, we were thinking about the Hotel Kekoldi, but I just read a really negative review on this site. Has anyone else been to this place?

Has anyone stayed here?

Recently stayed in San Jose at Kekoldi Hotel and unfortunately it was awful. Our room had three windows open to the noisy hall. The windows were not normal, no; they were the patio type with the panes that open like blinds. All of the noise from the streets and guests entering and leaving were clear. I could even hear the man in the room next to me shower...faucet on faucet off...the whole deal. BAD, no, horrible. Do not waste a penny, pence or colon here. The beds were not comfortable. Just a gross place. I have traveled for 20 years and this is by far the worst place I have stayed and I am not picky. We were advised of a resturant two blocks away since I had lived in San Jose before was afraid and the attendant assured us that it was safe, while walking back a gentleman in his car said "I hope you are close to home". Luckily we were.

Within a few blocks of Kekoldi is Hotel Don Carlos. Very reasonable and in a great location. We've stayed here numerous times. Hotel Dunn might also be a good option for you.

It's not in the best part of town, there are many girls (that are actually men) standing in the street close to the hotel.

Yeah, so true! We were shocked at that the first time we rode through there at night. It's actually in a fairly decent area during the day, but at night there don't seem to be ANY decent areas--everyplace is fair game!
