Can anyone tell me a good place to stay (with a baby) for less than $100 near Florida and Av. Del Libertador? Thanks.

When you say $100.00 it can be either 100.00 pesos or 100.00 US$. Florida and Avenida Libertador do not meet. Anyway it is understable that you mean the Retiro area. This is a very expensive district. Not far from this place you get much better value for your money.

I must apologize. Florida street and Avenida del Libertador meet on the corner of Plaza San Martin. It seems that today is not my lucky day.

I am planning to spend 6 nights at the Claridge - Anyone have any views on this hotel? Also, are credit cards accepted in restaurants/stores?

Try the Argenta Plaza Hotel, this is a very nice four stars, ideal to go with the baby because No. 1 they have a fine not expensive restaurant and also in the rooms there are behind doors a micro+ a small fridge which might come handy.

the Argenta Towers is near Plaza San Martin, a few blocks.
The rack rate is us145 but....if you reserve through a travel agency like
wowargentina.com, highly recommended in this forum they can get you a $70 dollars rate which is a
great rate. I like it very much, I always stay there .
The Claridge is one of the old classic hotels of Buenos Aires, location right now is not the best because it is more into the banking area, its bar, which has an English feeling, was one of the best for years om town, and it might as well be today.
Today if I had to choose I would choose the Argenta, but of course there is a lot of history and tradition behind the Claridge and the Argenta is New. Good luck
Credit cards are accepted everywhere. However for buying an expensive item it might be better to pay cash and ask in turn some kind of discount. This sounds crazy but it is not because American Express, Visa , Master etc charge to the Argentineans exhorbitant percentages . This is one of the sad realities they have to deal with. I often wonder why someone does not stand up for the retailers in Argentina and many other countries and puts things into a more fair context.
