Hotel for Carnival?

Can anyone give me a suggestion(s) for a hotel for Carnival. It will be 4 single guys going to experience all the partying that goes on. We want to be within walking distance to beach and nightlife and don't want hassles about what we do in our rooms (too much noise, visitors, etc). On the other hand, we want nice, comfortable accomodations. Hoping for Ipanema area.

Thanks.

Rio or ? Nov 19th, 2002 10:27 AM

You might want to specify in Rio. Lots of places in the Caribbean, central and south america, even Mexico celebrate "Carnival" in relation to the pre-Easter season.

Will, are you planning for all 4 of you to stay in one room? If you are no hotel will let you bring in not even 1 visitor. You also restrict yourself by selecting Ipanema because of your criteria that you want in a room, Copacabana has more options. My first suggestion is for each of you to get your own room or all 4 of you to get an apartment where you will have no restrictions at all. If you go for a hotel stay away from 5 star hotels because they will not put up with your demands. 4 star hotels will be more tolerable but only 1 in a room at a time if you want guests, they will not allow a party.

Joaquim:

We were thinking of getting a suite or 2 adjoining rooms for the 4 of us. We want to be able to walk to the parties/bars/clubs/beaches. I had read other nightmare stories about hotels not allowing guests to bring anyone back to their rooms. We plan to meet a few other friends down there and would want the freedom to have them up to our rooms without a problem. I didn't mean we would be having parties or anything, but we do want to be able to have others over.

What do you think? Is Copacabana better than Ipanema for all of this? Can we walk to everything from either area?

Thanks. will
Will, this all depends on what you mean by friends, if your going to meet your buddies from back home then that might not be a problem. If you are talking about new found friends of the opposite sex then no hotel will let them in if you are registered 2 in a room. There are more hotels in Copacabana so you have more choices, you may want to try an inexpensive hotel standard room on Copa www.debret.com where it is the best location to walk everywhere. Or try www.blameitonrio4travel.com.

Don't stay at a hotel. Get an apartment. You will have much more freedom in an apartment. Plus, you don't want to be sharing a room with anyone. You both may need your privacy at the same time. It is Rio, and it will happen.

If you mean Carniavl in Rio. Check out this site. www.blameitonrio4travel.com They have a great Carnival page. Regarding hotel rooms, you should check out the Orla, Marina Palace. They have no hassles with guests.

Bobby
