Hi, my husband and I just returned from two weeks in Peru and noticed Las Americas and the MP Pueblo at Lima and Aquas Calientes although we did not stay at either. The Las Americas looked very posh although institutonally bland and had a five star label on the front. Across the street is a Holiday Inn so that will give you an idea of the chacter of the area. It is on a busy street in Miraflores somewhat lacking in character. I would definitely get a read on the sound proofing worthiness of the hotel as for the money you are likely paying it should be quiet but we found sound proofing to be non existent. We stayed about two blocks away in San Antono el Bad for $60 which was in an old colonial building and very nice but the traffic noise from the sreet can be heard until around 10:00 pm As for the MP Pueblo it also appeared rather chain like and modern from outward appearance. I guess to each their own but we preferred the smaller older converted residences and stayed at Las Rocas right beside the Hot Springs. It was quiet clean and had private bath. Please feel free to contact me for further info.

Hi! Well i read your topic, a friend of mine owns a clean, quite and nice looking hostelry relative near the center of Miraflores and San Isidro zones. I think the price is cheap for the kind of service it offers. It cost 30 dollars single room, 40 dollars double room, and 50 dollars for a triple room. It includes breakfast and taxes.
The hostelry doesn´t serve lunch or dinner, but there are nearby, either cheap or expensive, restaurants in the area. It offers room service of coffee and sandwichs. Every room has its own bathroom, cabletelevision, telephone, hot water, and you can use the hostelry kitchen facilities. (microwave, refrigerator, toaster, and kitchen).
There is also a little more expensive aparthotel that costs 60 dollars per night and it has a kingsize bed and an extra bed, it is located in Barranco. The rooms have its own kitchen and the hotel offers room service with a great variety of plates. This place is amazing!
They can pick you up at the airport at the hour you arrive. Just let them know with advance if you are interested.
Just send an email to: [email protected]

Hello Nalin,

I have stayed in all the places you are considering. I have to say though, that by far my preference in Lima is the Hotel Antigua Miraflores. I also must assure you the Pueblo Inn in Aguas Calientes is far from “chain like or modern” as one writer commented …although they did say that they had not stayed there. The Pueblo is full of local flavor and is situated on the most beautiful grounds with ponds and orchids along the paths between the rooms. All the rooms have fireplaces and most have an impressive view. If you can afford it – I promise you it is by far the best hotel in the area, hands down. It couldn’t be further from chain like. Explorama runs the best outfit and are the longest standing outfitter in the area of Iquitos. All of their lodges (I have stayed in all of them) are perfect down to a tee. The food is buffet style – which other Amazon lodges pale in comparison to. They also just completed their newest lodge “the Ceiba Tops” which has a pool as well as A/C, private bath, hot water, etc. It’s a nice stop after staying in some of the more remote ones. You absolutely shouldn’t be tempted with any of the other outfitters - lodges, who offer cheaper deals – because they do offer cheaper services!
We traveled with a company named South American Expeditions, http://www.letsgoperu.com – they matched the price we came up with when we planned the trip ala carte – they book for Explorama and offer the same rates. It was a great company that took care of all the details – we highly recommend them and all the lodges you mentioned. You’ll have the time of your life!
Connnie
Hotel Miraflores is rated as 2 & 3 star hotel on many sites but seems popular. Any comments negative or positive. Is is in a quiet location? Are their suites or rooms anyone prefers?
