Hotel Cataratas in Iguazu?

Has anyone stayed at Hotel Cataratas in Iguazu? The Sheraton seems to be booked for the couple days we are there. Can anyone recommend other good hotels in Iguazu?

It's a great hotel. I stayed there in 2003 and would highly recommend it -- fantastic view of the falls.

There are two Hotel Cataratas in this area. We stayed at the one in Iguazu a few months ago. It's located between the Iguazu Falls Park and the town of Puerto Iguazu. There was not a view of the falls and on a scale of 1-5, it was a 3. Most importantly it was clean, AC worked well, hot water for showers and friendly staff. We were only there for two nights and did not spend much time at the hotel anyway.

I believe clove must be referring to the Hotel Cataratas on the Brazilian side with a view of the falls.

You are right -- it is the Brazilian Cataratas facing the falls. The hotel had a lovely walkway that went right on top of the falls. Just fantastic -- and the area was full of butterflies and little creatures.

I believe we are staying at Hotel Cataratas on the Argentina side. Sounds like the brazilian side hotel is much better. Thank you both for the information.

If anyone is interested, I wrote a detailed review of the Hotel Cataratas (Brazilian side) on the Epinions web site. Great hotel!
