Honeymoon in Mexico

We are looking to honeymoon somewhere in Mexico in August. Any suggestions on where to stay would be great. Looking for a resort, doesn't have to be all inclusive, spa would be a plus. Budget of about $200-$300/night.

Thanks!

Dear Ashley:

Check your previous post. Just click on your name to get it to come up. PB Pacifica is not AI and has VERY nice spa offerings.

Good luck,

Mexico is extremely hot, humid, and rainy season in most resort areas in August. Are you sure you wouldn't want to consider a different destination? Have you been to Mexico before? In the summertime?

Colonial Mexico is wonderful in the US "summer".

True enough (Mikemo) but I was assuming they wanted a beach resort (but I could be wrong).

AS two who honeymooned in July in Mexico we choose The Quinta Real (suite 45) in Guadalajara. I feel this is the finest hotel in Mexico at very reasonable prices about $250 US for our suite. It had a living/office area, bedroom, dining area a fabulous bath with real gold fixtures & a Spa. Cable, DVD player & CDs. Great in room massage at the hotel, excellent food & incredible service/staff. In 40 plus years of travel never had a more delightful stay anywhere. Check it out!
PS Guadalajara is a wonderful city to explore, dine & shop!

August can be hit or miss with the weather but if you are going and want to mix it up I would do a few days in Cancun and then ferry to Isle Mejeures for a few days of a true tropical getaway. I don't know where you live but Jetblue flies to Cancun from NY and it is the best way to get there.

I think there are plenty of possibilities. In parts of Mexico as mentioned, it can be very cool. If you went to El Valle De Bravo outside Toluca you might need a sweater at night. On the other hand, I have been to Huatulco in August. Although Huatulco is not my first pick for resorts, the weather didn't bother us much. We stayed in a nice place with AC and a pool. At the beach we either stayed under palapas or were in the water. Same in Puerto Rico last summer. It was really hot in July, but we still had a great time- you have lots of options.

If I were honeymooning in Mexico, I would go to Villa del Sol in Zihuatanejo. Very romantic and beautiful. I am thinking that, even though we have been married almost 43 years, we need to honeymoon there! And who cares if it is hot when all you need to do is dip in the pool, dip in the ocean, lie under a palapa having a waiter bring you drinks, and sleep in an air-conditioned room?

ChickGeeek is indeed correct about the Villa del Sol. A great Resort! We chose the Quinta Real in Guadalajara mostly as summer is not our idea of Mexican beach time not regretting are pick. Of course we visit Mexico often so that may make a difference.
