Honeymoon - Costa Rica

All,

My fiance and I will have 5 nights/6 days for our honeymoon coming up in April 2018. We have tossed around a few ideas in the Caribbean, however we wanted to get opinions on possibly honeymooning in Costa Rica.

Weather, beaches, scenery, rainforests all look spectacular. With only 5 nights, would the trip be worth while?

If so, we would love to hear potential itineraries, ideas and any generic info on beaches, dining, activities. Our goal is to relax in a gorgeous setting, lay out on beautiful beaches and partake in a couple fun excursions.

Any thoughts are appreciated!

The Manuel Antonio area is nice, beautiful beach inside the national park, lots of wildlife like monkeys and sloths. We love Tulemar Bungalows - all types of accommodations, and you get your own concierge. Lots of good open air restaurants you can walk to. Manuel Antonio Expeditions is good for excursions like a guided tour of the park and the Damas mangrove tour. We also like the Villa Vanilla spice tour. There are adventure activities as well and sailing. Vacation Buggy gets rave reviews, but we haven't had a chance to try that one yet. You would fly into SJO, and then it's a three hour drive or so to MA. You can hire a private driver if you want to.

For honeymooners if you're looking for a beach area to lay out on with activities, Manuel Antonio is as probably good as you're going to get in Costa Rica.

But, those types of beach areas are not terribly common in Costa Rica--based on personal experience, I think the Riviera Maya area in Mexico would be a better fit--more of a beach-oriented destination but still plenty of activities including eco tours.

How does this initial itinerary sound? Too much in too little time?

Monday - Arrive San Jose early afternoon and drive to Hotel Riu Guanacaste (arrive around dinner)

Stay Monday through Wednesday

Depart early Thursday morning for Tabacon

Stay at Tabacon all day Thursday and Friday

7am Saturday leave Tabacon for San Jose Airport (1pm flight)

I'd be inclined to just stay in one spot with such a short time frame. Most people who stay in Guanacaste fly into Liberia rather than SJO.

Agree with volcanogirl. Stay in one spot. Plus travel time between places takes a lot longer than you would estimate. For Guanacaste, Liberia in/out is best.
