High-speed internet access

Hello,

We're thinking of going to Belize for a month. However, I would need to work a good portion of the trip...and I require true high-speed internet access.

What's the state of high-speed internet access in house/condo rentals? Is it high speed that can compare to the US?

Are there other countries in Central America that have much better high-speed internet?

Thanks in advance!

Steve

You may want to check Guatemala. While we were there their we many people in the cafe's with laptops. This was in Antigua.

Unfortunately, cafe's won't work out for me. I need something in the rental villa.

Thanks,

Steve

You can expect to find reliable high speed almost everywhere in Belize. Remote lodges in the jungle and on the remote outer islands have satelitte internet. (Ambergris and Caye Caulker has high speed digital) Many people run internet reliant business from Belize, including myself.

Thank you Katie.

Do you know how fast that internet is compared to north america?

If you went to http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/, what does it tell you there for your upload and download speeds.

Thanks!

Steve

I too am traveling to Belize and will have to work. Did the "highspeed" internet work for you, or did you notice how fast it was?

Thanks. Andy.

I'm pretty compuer illiterate. I can only tell you that I find it almost impossible to watch video on my laptop here in my condo in Belize. Too many stops and starts.

Last night there wasn't any internet access at all.
