live42day, was Mexico Rocks the other place you're thinking of? We saw some neat things there like an eel and lobsters. Much shallower than Hol Chan though. We saw turtles and huge rays at Hol Chan. I could go there every day.

Volcanogirl, Yes, Mexico Rocks. Went three times!!! We did go snorkeling somewhere almost every day of our 10 days there.
