Help with Price Quote for Driver in Costa Rica
We have gotten a price quote from a driver that is very highly recommended on this website. I just want to make sure the prices are in line with other highly recommended drivers. Any comments would be appreciated. There are 5 of us travelling together. Here are the locations and rates:
San Jose to Manual Antonio $ 200 with a stop at Carara Manual Antonio to La Finca Que Ama $ 150 La Finca Que Ama to Arenal $ 180 Arenal to San Jose $ 180 with a stop at La Paz |
We did the same exact trip in reverse order starting with San Jose to Arenal.
We paid our driver $620 for the whole trip. |
My personal comment would be to rent a SUV, get a copy of Fodor's or Frommer's Review for Costa Rica, a map from you car rental agency and see costa rica on your own at your pace. The people are friendly and helpful, just be sure to be at your destination by dark .... not due to personal safety, but driving after dark is dangerous to you, pedestrians, bike riders and free roaming live stock ... also the potholes are easier to see before dark. My husband and 2 kids have traveled and explored many parts of Costa Rica on our own and wouldn't have it any other way. Enjoy your trip!

We used Costa Rica Transfers and their prices weren't that high. You might want to check them out, as well.

Due to gas prices increasing, Leo Rodriguez may have upted his fees but he charged $200.00 for five to drive us 4 hrs.(plus 1/2 hr. lunch stop) to Tamarindo in May 2005. That was $40.00 per person - pretty reasonable for an educational, safe, fun and scenic ride. Leo's email address is [email protected] and his phone number is (506)378-0001
