Help with Packing for Dec. trip

I know I've posted lots of threads about this trip, but it's rather last minute for us so I am trying to cover all bases. We leave Dec. 1 and return the 6th. I know generally what to pack- rain ponchos, wool sweater, quick-dry pants that zip off into shorts- but is it colder than January b/c of rain? Are Lost Iguana and Peace Lodge casual? Last time, Makanda at MA was kind of fancy for dinner- we prefer casual. Can we wear jeans to dinner? Any restaurant recs near Lost IGuana, or is food there decent? Thanks again everyone! Jill

I believe January is the dry season in most parts except for the Caribbean side perhaps ...? I definitely think you can do casual for dinner at Makanda , or most places for that matter ( probably a few in San jose would require appropriate attire ) A fleecy might dry faster than wool if it does happen to get damp ? I think what you named sounds fine .

Faithie,
Thanks- actually we were there in Jan. 2004 when we stayed at Makanda. This time we are there 1st week of December, staying at Lost Iguana and Peace Lodge, so I was curious to know if attire was more casual there. thanks!

OOPs ! I misunderstood , you might get a bit more rain , but the wet season is generally over by then , but they have had a crazy year weatherwise !!! all will be well ! Have a great time . Faith .

As for Peace Lodge -
there were ladies in the dining area during dinner that were dressed in sundresses. They had to have been very cool.
I on the otherhand had only packed very casual clothing. Due to the fact that it was cool and rainy, I wore my zipoff pants, long sleeve t and rain jacket to dinner! So yes you can eat here in casual clothing, or at least they didn't kick me out!!! btw this trip was in Feb

Never stayed at Lost Iguana.

Thanks!. Seeing as I don't OWN a sundress, pants will have to do! I would live in jeans and boots year round if I could. I appreciate the advice. I get the sense Lost Iguana is even more casual than Peace (doesn't look as fancy on web site) so I won't worry too much. Thanks again! Jill
