Help with Late Augtust Weather in Costa Rica

My family and I are going to the Manuel Antonio area next week and I just spoke with a woman who told me it will probably start raining everyday at about 1:30 or 2 in the afternoon and not stop until the next morning. Initially I was told that it would probably rain only a few hours every day. Can anyone tell me what the norm is in that area now? We are staying on the coast. Secondly, if it does rain most of the time any ideas on what to do in terms of activities? Thanks!!

That COULD happen, but I think your other information is more likely! Don't worry about it ahead--you're going to have a great time.

Well, you can still do most of the activities there, you'll just be wetter. ;) Make sure you take rain ponchos. The cheapo $5 ones work fine. It will be warm, therefore still enjoyable for you I hope!

Here's a link to the weather map showing average rainfall.

Okay, I'm being facetious but you should tell that woman she could makes millions being a weather forecaster! Our forecasters here can't even hold a candle to her predicitions/forecast -
Here in FL, watching the am news the other day, we were "finally done with the showers and could expect the next 3-4 days to be dry". Of course I appreciated that info when the skies opened up that afternoon for 4 hours straight.

Seriously, I would just take each day as it comes. Most activities can be enjoyed in the rain as well, take a light rainjacket with you.

Ok I am trying to stay optimistic but when I heard that I got a bit nervous. Thanks.

I can't speak to August, but we went last July, and it did rain each afternoon but not all night. It was always cleared up by dinnertime for us. We did our activities early in the day and then relaxed at the hotel during the showers, and then went back out to eat and enjoy the sunsets.
