Help with Honeymoon

My fiance and I are planning our honeymoon to Costa Rica for late June. We want to stay somewhere that is very nice. It is important to us that it is close to the ocean and has a pool. We would also like for it to have a romantic atmosphere. A friend has recommended Si Como No. any thoughts? Do you have suggestions on any other hotels?

Thanks so much!

Dear amcneelyUS_AR,
Manuel Antonio, where hotel Si Como No is, is an excellent choice for your honeymoon. The beaches are beautiful, and the national park is wonderful - full of wild life. However, I think that Si Como No is not your best choice. The hotel is pretty big now, and quite noisy, in the sense that there are a lot of people going in and out, children in the pools etc. I think you are looking for something a little bit more romantic, with no children, and smaller. I haven't been to Makanda, but everyone says it is wonderful, and perfect for honeymoons (you can find a lot of reviews in the forum).
Also, just a thought, it will be a little bit of a waste to come all the way to Costa Rica, and be only on the beach, if time allows - I think you should consider at least a couple of days at Arenal Volcano, or in the central valley, for some different kind of activities.
Feel free to write directly to my email for any more information or help planning your trip!
Pura Vida,
Neta Talmor

I've stayed at both Si Como No and Makanda, and do think Makanda is the more romantic of the two. It's much smaller, and I don't think they allow young children to stay there. Do be aware that neither of these properties are right on the ocean, but rather, up on the hill with beautiful views down over the jungle to the coast.

I'd also second the idea of adding a second destination within Costa Rica, assuming you're going to be there for any length of time.

I also have stayed at both Si Como No and Makanda (on my honeymoon). I would definitey recommend Makanda for a honeymoon. It is incredibly peaceful, beautiful and romantic!

I would highly recommend Florblanca in Malpais/Santa Teresa. Very nice and romantic with a great pool. It is also right on the ocean. We stayed there last August and it is one of the best places I stayed at in Costa Rica. Check it out at www.florblanca.com.
