Help w/hotel near Iguazu
We will be at Iguazu in late January (yes, we know it is terribly hot) and our travel agent in Argentina tells us that the Sheraton is full, Las Cataratas is full, but we can get the Esturion. We have read some awful reviews of the Esturion, and would like to know if anyone has another recommendation (on the Argentina side only, because we are not getting visas for Brazil.

www.suparacataratas.com.ar or email [email protected] offers riverfront cabins just outside of Iguazu. I have stayed there twice, and much prefer it to places such as the Esturion. They offer modern cabins...not luxurious but comfortable. There is a pool, but my favorite "activity" is sitting on the front porch sipping coffee or mate and watching the river...peaceful, tranquil and totally serene. On the downside, it is out of town about two miles. You have to phone for a taxi to get you downtown, not a problem...but requires a wait....To get back, the taxi stand downtown will whisk you back in no time. You can walk, if you like, but why bother in the heat and humidity.

Getting the visa for Brazil gives you a lot more freedom to find decent/nice hotels anywhere in the area plus you can see the panoramic view of the falls from the Brazilian side, which is definitely worth it.
You could try the Iguassu Grand Hotel/Casino on the Argentina side. |
Iguazu Grand is a wonderful hotel in Iguazu, as I see it, the second best after the Sheraton.
Anyway, I really liked the Esturion, I can't understand why you found those bad reviews. I also heard it has been remodeled recently. |
The bad reviews are all on trip advisor. It talks about rooms being dirty when you check in and the ongoing construction.
http://www.tripadvisor.com/ put Esturion Iguazu in the search box and you'll see it. Please let us know when you went and if you disagree. ~gnr~ |
