HELP please-----Better to rent car from Cancun Airport or go into Playa??
 

Also , will I get a better deal through the internet or if I just go down there and rent in person?
Looking for small car with/without a.c---any idea what to pay for a 4-6 day rental?
Insurance included? (about $10 a day for insurance? )

Just for use in comparing ...

Last August, I rented a small 4 door with A/C from the Avis in Playacar for about $72/day including everything. Things weren't very negotiable because they were short of cars. I only needed one day to go Chichen Itza so I didn't really care to shop around or go into PDC proper.

If you are going in the summer, I wouldn't even consider a car without A/C.

we have always found the best deals on the internet. The rate you receive will depend on the time of year. End of July and August is considered high season in Playa, so the rates will be higher. I agree that a/c is recommended during the summer months. If you get a rate you like on the internet, be sure and take a printout of all the information. Sometimes the confirmation number is not good enough. Off season, we have paid less than $50 for a compact car with a/c and this price included taxes and insurance. We almost always use Thrifty.
