help me to choose between manuel antonio or tamarindo
hi
We are travelling to CR for 10 days beginning of june. Not sure if it's better to go to tamarindo or manuelle antonio. We are travelling with a 20 month old baby. I want to know which place offer the most activities. also do you think it's a good idea to go and spend 2 or 3 day to the arenal area. Any suggestion will be appreciated. thanks |

Hi Sylvia!
If you can, try to get to Arenal. Although there are no guarantees, seeing (and hearing) the volcano rumble, vent steam and spew lava rocks is an awesome experience. We were fortunate when we went to CR...had full visibility of the volcano and experienced all of the above! Also did the Hanging Bridges, which allows you to view the rainforest canopy at your leisure and provides some thrills. We also had some pretty good meals at local restaurants. |
Hi Sylvia. I've been to all three areas and I would also say that you should get to Arenal if at all possible. That part of the country is absolutely beautiful.
I would go to Manuel Antonio over Tamarindo but that's just my preference. I think there is more to do and see in Manuel Antonio. If you rent a car, you can drive to different locations. We enjoyed a trip to the park near the Tarcoles River (can't remember the name of it)where we hired a guide to walk thru with us. We saw many beautiful birds here as well as other wildlife. Wherever you decide, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. |
i've never been to MA, but just got back from a trip to CR, and wasn't that impressed with Tamarindo. I would say to skip it. Definitely do Arenal - lots to do and see. We did Sky Tram Zip Lines and they were great. Also many other activities to do in this area.

We just returned from CR. Tamarindo was our main location. It is rather touristy but the beach is nice. The information on our web site may be helpful. www.gpbard.info

I stayed in the Manuel Antonio area when I visited three years, and just returned from five days in the Tamarindo area yesterday. In my opinion, there is no comparison. Manuel Antonio is far more beautiful, much cleaner, and the small local restaurants and businesses are nicer.

Our 18 month old granddaughter had a great time at Manuel Antonio last summer. . the second beach into the park was her playground for 3 days and she absolutely loved it. Having the park so near to explore was fun as well. Enjoy!
