i went last dec. lets just say i won't go there again. ive stayed in quite a few resorts in mexico, including pv and this was my least favorite. mind you, i got a great deal, especially for xmas time, but glad i didn't pay a cent more. you can read some info on in at puertovallarta.net, go to pvbullentin, then scroll for las palmas. there are so many resorts in pv, is this the best deal you can find? how about royal decameron, i heard this is very nice, it is also 3 1/2 star so maybe approx. same rate? not sure of how far downtown is from rd but i walked a few times from lp to downtown and it took me about 40 min.

PV hotels May 13th, 2002 10:06 AM

There are so many nice hotels in El Centro and "south of the river in old town" PV. I'm not sure where/how you chose these particular two.

San Marino is right on the main local beach in old town(Playa Los Muertos) - great location. I can't think why it would be more noisy than other places. Having said that... it can get loud in PV, mariachi bands, roosters, traffic, discos, the restaurant/bar next door, etc. But San Marino is a high-rise so if you were facing the beach up a couple floors??

Las Palmas is an All-Inclusive back out toward the airport in the hotel zone; two strikes against it (in my mind).

Search this site if you'd like to research other options; alot's been posted lately on PV hotels.

San Marino is closer May 15th, 2002 10:06 AM

If you want to stroll Playa Los Muertos, Las Palmas is way too far away, on the other side of town, 15 mins. by taxi, 1/2 hour by local bus.
