Help in planning the perfect getaway!

My husband and I are looking to plan our end of year getaway. We are in our late 20's and both of us love city life and small towns, beaches, warm weather, history, and culture. We are thinking of 3 weeks, but not certain where to go. We've travelled a decent bit, so are running out of ideas that provide a bit of everything --- any suggestions? We are looking for something different!

do you want to go to latin america? or did you post on this forum accidentally?

if you want something unusual that combines beaches, warm weather, city and culture, i am thinking something like hong kong (excellent shopping, and believe it or not, beaches) or thailand (phuket)

Panama springs to mind - Panama City is one of the best-loved cities in CA and there are lots of interesting towns and villages from the lowlands and beaches on 2 oceans to the mountainous areas where the weather is spring-like all year. Panama has interesting indigenous populations, too, and a fascinating history.

Thanks bondgirl78 and hopefulist... we are not looking at Asia as we've been to many of the countries already. Other ideas?

I like the Merida area. Close to two fabulous ruins. Then move on to the Mayan Riviera, Cozumel and Tulum.

Have you been to Costa Rica? It has the beach resorts, but also the interior rainforest and volcanos.

This question is from 2006. I'm guessing they've already figured it out :-)

LOL! I missed that. I hope they did.
