Help! GOL tickets online booking

I am trying to use my AMEX card to book tickets through GOL's website. However, at the last step of my purchase, I always get an error message and wasn't able to get through. Any one has similar experience? What went wrong? We are leaving this weekend to Brasil and still not have all our tickets purchased yet! Thanks!

You should be able to buy tickets. Here is the GOL response they gave me when I tried to purchase online:

I'd like to inform you about our procedures, our web site is available to check
flight times, prices, telephones information, etc.. but only if you have a CPF
(Brazilian document) or an American Express credit card, you we'll be able to
purchase your ticket online.
There is a way to get you ticket safely in the moment of your arrive in Brazil.
Contact our central phone (55 11 2125 3200) to make a reservation and reserve
your flight, then you can pay by the checkin/store GOL by the airport.

Since I don't have an AMEX card yet (it is in the mail) I had to purchase in cash my tickets at their counter when I arrived. That worked well.

Also, I used their online service. Since my Portuguese is so limited I had to keep my dictionary.com translation up to translate. Needless to say that was a slow process. The email reply was better and a day turn around.

Have fun.....

Thanks kdm. I tried it again, still couldn't go through when I finally hit the "purchase" button. How did you reserve online? and by what means did you contact them for help? I sent an email message but didn't get response yet. Did you try the phone number they provide?

I did a couple of things: the email and the on line assistance. However, have cash ready and buy your tickets at the airport. That worked out fine. If you are flying into Sao Paulo the ticket office opens at 9:00a. Also, print out the flight you want to take and that will help them out. Ate logo

We just came back from Brazil. No luck using the online reservation with GOL. We ended up buying the tickets at Sao Paulo airport. Had to pay more than the webfare though. Two flights that we took with GOL were both delayed. But our worst experience was with VASP. The flight was delayed for over 5 hours. Flight schedules were not well displayed at the gates in any airports. For someone like us that don't understand a single word of Portuguese, things could get very confusing and frustrating in the case of flight delays and gate changes.

Hi,

GOL has a trick for booking online. You must use a credit card that's emitted in Brazil. They do this because their policy is to charge different prices for Brazilians and foreigners (like in Russia).
The way round this is going to a travel agent once you are there and pay your ticket in cash. Outside airports travel agents are generally very helpful with this.
I was living there for three months and did this many times.

maxpam, based on their website they indicate that they accept AMEX cards. is this false advertisement?
