Help, going to Cancun in 3 weeks and haven't researched anything yet...

Due to hurricane damage, we have decided to change our plans and go to Cancun instead of the Bahamas, but I don't really know much about it. We are going without our children for 4 days. We just want to snorkel 2 days, see ruins 1 day and stay at hotel 1 day. So where should we stay, was thinking JW MArriott, but open to wny suggestions. Any tour groups you recommend for snorkeling & ruins?

Thank you for your time and consideration!

You won't be sorry with the JW Marriott!
I've been all over the world, and this is one of my favorite hotels. Have a great time.
Don't miss Tulum! Playa del Carmen is also a nice day trip, as is Isla de Mujeres.

There is no snorkeling off Cancun beaches EXCEPT at the Club Med. We stayed at the Hyatt Cancun Caribe (wonderful) and took the bus to the Westin (next door to Club Med). The Club Med beach is private (they had a guard posted between the Westin and CLub Med), however, if you walk around the point of land between the 2 hotels you can access the waters edge - all rocks, no sand. ABsolutely stunning snorkeling there. We also took a day trip to Cozumel and in my opinion the snorkeling at the Club Med was much easier to access and much more amazing. The coral grew to within inches of the surface in some spots (we were never more than in 6 feet of water). I love snorkeling and if I were to return to Cancun would probably stay at the Westin due to its proximity to snorkeling.

Get maps from Cancunmap.com. They are excellent guides.

Thank you for all the information. Would we be better off staying in Cozumel for the snorkeling? What is the best way to get there? Any hotel recommendations? We like a nice pool and room service for breakfast.

Thank you again for your help.
