Help Dividing our two weeks in Nicaragua
 

Hello:
We have two weeks in December in Nicaragua and would welcome feedback on this itinerary. We are hitting typical tourist stops but would love input if there's somewhere else we should not miss.

1 Arrive Managua (late) ON near airport

4 Grenada
5 Transport Granada to Ometepe Island
6 Ometepe
7 Ometepe
8 Ometepe
9 transport Ometepe to Leon
10 Leon
11 Leon
12 Leon
13 Leon
14 Leon
15 Transport Leon to Managua for flight out

We love the outdoors and trekking, kayaking, adventure sports. We want to hike volcanoes, perhaps even do an overnight trek. We do not like the beach or snorkeling. I feel like we could squeeze in one more destination if we cut a little time from Leon--should we? If so, where?

I think five days in Leon is overkill.

What would you do instead?

It seemed like the jumping off point for a lot of outdoor activities that interest us so I thought we might end up doing a multiday trek up there which is how it gobbled up so much itinerary time. But I would love other ideas.

Well the library got in a copy of a guidebook so I will check it out for some ideas.
