help-Costa Rica 6 night trip in March
 

Hello,
Husband and I are traveling to Costa Rica for the first time March 2013. We arrive on a Wednsday at noon (3/6) and leave the following tuesday at noon (3/12) from San Jose airport. We are both in our twenties, love outdoor activities and don't mind a busy vacation. Would love hiking, rafting, zipping...etc. I was thinking Arenal and a couple of days at the beach. Thoughts???

We realize we don't have much time but we have a two year old and I don't want to spend more time away from her....any recommendations would be appreaciated :)

A couple of the rafting companies will pick you up at your hotel the first morning, take you rafting on the Pacuare, then drop you off in Arenal/La Fortuna in the afternoon. Spend another day or two in Arenal/La Fortuna. Do the Sky Trek canopy tour, hike the cooled off lava, soak in hot springs, then head to the beach.

Manuel Antonio is a popular choice, but you could try something more isolated like Montezuma or Malpais or Dominical, although some of these are further away from San Jose, making getting back in time for your flight a little more difficult.

would that be pick up from San Jose? or Arenal/Fortuna?

You would definitely like the Arenal area. We did rafting with Rios Tropicales, but Desafio is also good. For hiking, check out the waterfall, Hanging Bridges, and the volcano. We did zipping at Sky Trek and loved it. You might also check out canyoning - the La Roca tour is a lot of fun, and that area is very pretty. We like Tabacon or Eco Termales for hot springs. Tubing at the Spring Resort and Spa is also great. The Manuel Antonio area is nice and easy if you only have a couple of days. The Guanacaste area is also popular.

You will love Guanacaste area: beautiful beaches and lots of activities!!!

I think that the best option in for your needs is to visit Guanacaste Area, It is full of adventure and really nice accommodation expensive / cheap.
