Help a groom plan a perfect beach honeymoon!
First time user of these forums -- they're great!
Here's the situation: since she has enough work to do this year, I'm in charge of planning the honeymoon! It will be the last two weeks in October, 2009. Here are the requirements: 1.) Must have: Tropical 2.) Must have: Romantic (obviously!) 3.) Must have: We'd really love to stay in one of those huts on stilts out over the water 4.) Great to have: Food and spa options 5.) Great to have: Mindless, where we won't feel guilty for not being "touristy" and visiting local museums/ruins/siteseeing attractions. Any and all suggestions are welcome! Thank you, Mike |
Hmmm...2 weeks is a long time to visit amazing countries and not see ruins and other beautiful sights besides the beach. How about Anthony's Key Resort on Roatán? www.anthonyskey.com

What is your budget? What you can afford will determine where you can go.

Thanks for your responses so far. Anthony's Key and Hotelito are the kinds of places we'd be looking for. Any others? Our budget is $5,000 for the honeymoon. On second thought, we are open to spending 3-4 days relaxing on the beach and in the hut, followed by a week of siteseeing, followed by 3-4 days of more relaxing on the beach before heading back north.

Places like Anthony's Key usually offer inland packages, too (they do - I checked). Copán is really lovely and we enjoyed our adventures in the mountains out of La Ceiba, too. Check out the Hacienda San Lucas website below and the Omega Lodge website, though their incredibly artistic, romantic, funky jungle suites aren't pictured sufficiently on the site (maybe they could send you photos).
