Hair Dryers in Hotel Rooms? -- Peru

Hello,

Just wondering if anyone can tell me the hair dryer situation for the following hotels:

Lima: Ramada Costa del Sol (airport)
Ollantaytamo: Hostal Sauce
Cusco: Picoaga

Hoping to avoid lugging a dryer along!

Thanks! :-)

I can't speak for those particular hotels, but we didn't see a hair dryer anywhere we stayed. If you take your own, make sure it will run on 220, and that you have an adapter, in case they have the round holes instead of the slot variety we have in the States. I do think we found plug ins that would take the "normal" plugs found in the US, virtually everywhere.

I took a dryer, but rarely used it. My daughter had longer hair and used it. With short hair, mine dried quickly.

Hope that helps.

Have you emailed these hotels to ask?

I am just starting trip planning for Peru; I have found in other destinations in So. America that even if there is not a dryer in the room, the hotel will often have one available if you call the front desk and ask.

We didn't stay at any of those hotels in Peru, but none of the three we were in had hair dryers. I was able to borrow one from the front desk each time. We did have hair dryers in Quito and the Galapagos. Personally, I would take one just for convenience. As posted above, look for one that has automatic dual voltage and don't forget the plug adaptor. They're very hard to find outside of the US.

The outlets in the hotels we stayed at in Ollantaytambo, Cusco, and Aguas Caliente all had outlets that took either the U.S. 2-blade plug or the Europoean 2-pin plug; no adaptor required. And were 220 volt as other posters said.

My travel hair dryer with dual-voltage and U.S. style plug worked.

Also, all the hotels had dryers at the desk I could've borrowed.

I ended up not even drying my hair there but I did use the dryer to give a quick shot of hot air to clothes we had laundered and were returned damp. I know, wasteful, but I didn't want to pack or wear wet clothes!
