Guidebook for Oaxaca
 

Can anyone recommend a guidebook for Oaxaca? And any other suggestions or advice is much appreciated. We'll be there Nov. 5-10 for the first time.

I, too, have been looking for guides to Oaxaca. This is the only independent one I've found that's fairly current and for $4 Kindle and discounted as low as $6 otherwise, I figure it's worth a try:

FWIW, although I haven't been to Oaxaca, I found the Moon Guide exceptionally good for the Yucatan and Chiapas. The Rough Guide and Lonely Planet were also helpful to me.

The Moon guide for Oaxaca is the best one, IMO. I have used it, supplemented by Lonely Planets guide, on multiple trips to Oaxaca over the years, as recently as last winter.

I don't know specifically for Oaxaca, but Moon is my favorite for the Pacific Coast side of Mexico. Sounds like others agree.

While it's not the newest edition, it sounds like people like the Moon guides and there's one for just the Oaxaca Valley. I think I'm going to order it. I went back and read reviews for 'Viva Oaxaca', not the ones below the book description on the Amazon page, but from the full list, and it sounds less useful. I hope the OP finds the recommendations above good too. Thanks y'all.

Is Viva Oaxaca the small and thinner book? If so, I have it also. But it is not as usefull all around as Moon. And there is so much good online info on Oaxaca to supplement.
