Guancaste, adventure...Hacienda Guachipelin and Buena Vista Lodge

Planing our trip for June, flying nto Liberia with self, wife & 18 & 20 yr old sons. Both Hacienda Guachipelin and Buena Vista Lodge seem like they have great activity programs. Any recommendations either or both.

The zip line tours, spa, tubing the rapids, mud pots, geo thermal phenominon... all sound so cool.

Any firsthand experiences at either location or on either activity programs would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Al

Also check out Rincon de la Vieja Mountain Lodge. It is closer than the others to the National Park, if you want to actually explore the park.

We just got back from Costa Rica a few days ago, and the full-day Adventure Tour at Hacienda Guachipelin was my favorite day of the whole trip. We LOVED it - so much fun! You start off with the canyon tour (ziplines, rappelling, rock climbing, tarzan swings), then tubing down the Rio Negro, then horseback riding to one of the waterfalls, then the hot mud bath.

A delicious buffet lunch is also included. Total was $75 a person. (We had our own transportation and booked the day directly through Hacienda Guachipelin. I've seen that other tour companies offer the same package plus transportation for about $135 a person or so.)

I don't know anything about the Buena Vista Lodge, so I can't compare the two. I'd be happy to try to answer any questions you may have about the tour we did!
