We're planning a trip to Mexico at the end of May, and it'll be either Guanajuato or Oaxaca. We're not looking for anything fancy - just charm, romance, and things to do. Anyone have any recommendations on whether we should choose Guanajuato or Oaxaca?

Two very nice colonial cities, but in very different areas. In Oaxaca you will experience indigenous culture that you would not experience in Gunajuato plus a much wider variety of artesania, weaving, pottery, etc., etc. Also depends what kind of weather you are looking for. I like Oaxaca that time of year because it has cooled down. On the other hand, end of May, early June the rain starts so ,again, it depends what you want.
