great AI in Playacar or Cancun?

Can anyone out there recommend a really nice AI on the Caribbean side of mexico? We loved The grand velas in Nuevo vallarta last year and would like something comparable. We are looking for an AI or minimum breakfast included since we will be a large group ages 4 - 79 and like the convienence of not worrying about meals.
Thanks... I am getting desperate. P.S. I shouold mention that we have been to Ceiba del Mar in Puerto Morelos and as nice as the pool was we were not happy with the beach. We would like to change to the caribbean side because we are looking for crystal clear calm water.

I know it is a tall order. We are willing to pay the $$$
Thanks again

Playacar has many AI's that would fit your bill. Look here for a map.

I, too, would be be very disappointed in the beach at Ceiba del Mar - it's all turtle grass; not so great for swimming.
You'll love the water/beach in Playacar. Here's an aerial photo:

I would look specifically at the RIU's the Iberostar and the Royal Porto Real even though that one is in Playa Del Carmen and not Playacar. I just had a email from RIU this week with their sale prices. We were at the RIU Yucatan in June and I've also stayed at the RIU Tequila and the RIU Palace Mexico. The Tequila is not directly on the beach but across the street from the RIU Mexico and the RIU Yucatan and they provide a shuttle to the beach if you don't want to walk the pathway. The RIU Yucatan just underwent a pool area remodel and it's very nice. The RIU Palace Mexico is beautiful and a favorite.

Check out the Iberostar Tucan/Queztel. Iberostar runs great resorts and the beach at this one is great. This resort is also not a large as some of the other Iberostars.

You will not be disappointed with Riu Palace Riviera Maya in Playacar. The resort is new, beautiful, nice pool, nice beach, and awesome service. The food and drinks are pretty good also. You will get your money's worth!
