Gran Melia Cancun

Anybody ever stay at the Gran Melia Cancun? What was it like?

Melia's hotels are pretty good. I have stayed at the Melia Turquesa and it was incredible. Pool and beach area were excellent. Once there went for the all inclusive option and it is worth it... spacially when local beverages are included, like coronas, tequila and mixed drinks...also it is nice that bottle water is included.

I stayed at the Gran Melia Cancun in 2001. Very nice hotel...HUGE (I think it has close to 1000 rooms), the pools are very nice. The rooms are nice, big (ours had a little sitting area w/sofa), the terraces are nice and private and the bathrooms are big. Breakfast buffet was a little expensive (about $20/person) but they offered everything and anything you could imagine.

We have a timeshare there. It is fabulous. We've been there three times in the past two years. How old are you?
Single, family, kids?

Thank you miguelgcuadra, ErinS, and michele323. My wife and I are in our fifties. We are looking forward to relaxation and a number of day trips i.e. to Cozumel and Isla Mujeres for snorkeling and Chichen Itza for culture, and possibly to Isla Contoy and Coba. Did any of you book day trips thru the Gran Melia? If so, how were they?
