Good small field guide

I'm going to CR for the first time in April with my 2 kids ages 10 & 12. I would like to get a good field guide that they would be able to use and is not too cumbersome. Does anyone have a recommendation?
Thanks

Try Ernesto Guillermo Sonreyes. He is about 5' 2".

Is that small enough?

Here's the website for the laminated identification cards like the ones we took to Belize - THEY'RE AWESOME, especially for kids. They are so much better than books because they are light, pack flat, are easy to hang onto, don't require page turning, and can be used in the rain.

Have a great trip!

Poppa,
I'm afraid Ernesto is still too big, however, hopefulist, your suggestion is perfect! I just ordered a few CR guides. Thank you.

This is a great tip, thank you! I just ordered the butterfly card for our upcoming trip. We have lots of bird guide books and don't want to carry around another big field guide for butterflies, this is perfect. Tempted to get the amphibian one too...

Thyat's gratifying - hope you enjoy them as much as we enjoyed the Belize ones. In the process of searching for their website I discovered they now have Panama guides which I ordered last night. Happy trails...
