Good beach and resort in Mexico
I am tentatively planning a trip to Mexico for February. I have been doing my research, but still have lots of questions. I'd like to stay in a nice resort (at least four stars, with v. good service) with a fitness room and spa. Don't want to be someplace where there will be a party atmosphere or lots of kids. Since it'll be Presidents' Week, I don't know if this is feasable. I plan to spend most of my time on the pool and on the beach. Any ideas? Comments on Ceiba del Mar--also does anyone know where Ceiba del mar is located??

Don't worry most college students can't afford to stay at 4/5* resorts (really)! Sorry don't know what area of Mexico your post refers to.

It's in Puerto Morelos less than 1/2 hr from Cancun.
I have not been there, but it looks VG. Most posts here have highly recommended Royal Hideaway in Playa del Carmen. Please let us know about your experience. M M |

Definitely check tripadvisor.com. i have heard great things about ikal del mar, royal hideaway and ceiba. i have stayed at the ritz-carlton in cancun, and it is also wonderful with a lovely beach (altho cancun isn't really my top choice otherwise).

After having just stayed at a few different places on the Riviera Maya, I have to say that there's a reason Cancun is so popular. The beach on the hotel zone is as beautiful as any I've ever seen, only topped in that area by the beach at Tulum. It's expensive place to stay, but lovely. We stayed at the incredible JW Marriott.
Ceiba del Mar is a very lovely hotel, but the beach is not the best right there... |
Suze, You must be kidding about those college students not being able to afford 4 or 5 star resorts. The spoiled, rich kids on daddy's credit card are the very worst during spring break!
