Going to CR tommorrow, one last question...
I have a question about how much money (other than credit cards) to take on our trip. I don't want to carry too much, but I don't want to not have enough. All of our lodging and airfare is already paid for. We'll be spending half of our trip in the Osa, I don't foresee us needing money there. I don't think we'll be close to an ATM very often. What have you all done?
Thanks, Jill |
I have brought about $50.00 per person per day to cover extra food, taxi rides and to pay for guides. This being said, it will depend on how often you eat away from your lodge and how often you use the services of guides. A little extra cash to be on the safe side would not hurt.
Good luck and have fun. slofan |
No ATM on Osa. But your room will probably have a safe.
As a rule of thumb, I travel with about $200 cash per person for "just in case" emergencies. Not to be a downer, but when the rubber hits the road and there is a REAL emergency, those who get the boat or the car outta town are those with cash! (For example, Katrina or an earthquake). Be safe. |
Well for tours in Osa, you should not need cash. Some of these lodges do not cover beverages or drinks so you might need cash for that.
A caveat about your credit card is that many credit cards charge a surtax for purchases made in a different currency than dollars. |
Thanks for the replies! You've been a big help.
We're packed and will be ready to go first thing in the morning. It's pretty darn exciting! Thanks again, Jill |
