Gay Puerto Vallarta

Going to Puerto Vallarta in a few weeks for the first time. Excited about it but wondering if anyone has any input, advice, recommendations, etc.

Where are some good clubs?
What is the best beach area?

My partner and I are huge foodies so we are also searching for tips on good eats!

Thanks!

Don't think you will get all that much information from this board. Here is a decent site for info on puerto vallarta:

We will be going in a few weeks also - we were there a few years ago for the first time. It's a pretty cool place. I think you'll like it.

Lots of good restaurants along and in the vicinity of the Malecon.

I recommend the restaurant el Brujo on Carranza about 8 blocks back from the beach. The food is excellent and the people are very friendly. A few years ago, it was all upscale Mexican's eating there, but tourists have found it now. But it still retains it's original feel.

Actually, there's quite a bit of good food here, even in the very touristy area's. There's so much competition that bad places don't last all that long.

The new club is CC Slaughter. The old Mañana club is now Koko Home, but it's only open on Saturday's. The general rule is beach (green chairs or blue chairs) during the day for drinks and sunning, then everyone moves just off the beach for the happy hour bars (Apache's along Olas Altas is an example). The clubs are situated away from the beach. Bars tend to start and run very late.

I should also point out that there are a ton of bars, and they are all within easy walking distance.

When you get here, just head to Los Muertos beach and grab a beach chair, order a drink, then just chat people up. Everyone's on vacation and generally friendly. You shouldn't have any trouble finding guys to share their favorite bar/restaurant recommendations.

Of course, this goes without saying, but WEAR SUNSCREEN. It's amazing how many people burn themselves the first day. The tropical sun is intense.

Great time to come visit peaceful Puerto Vallarta. After 33 years, I moved here full-time and run 2 Yahoo groups for info and questions. There is tons to do. I own and edit a restaurant dining guide, available online and locally. The weather has warmed and spring has sprung! Hope you will be staying Southside, below the Rio Cuale. That is the hot gay area but all over town are clubs and events. Come dip into the colonial culture. Your evenings will be jam-packed with options and days are delightful on Playa Los Muertos and nearby communities on or near the bay.

Oh good, they've already got you covered!!

Most definitely you want Playa Los Muertos for your beach. It's the main public beach on the south-side ("zona romantica"), lined with beach bars and restaurants, several with a predominantly gay clientele.

One of my regular travel companions is a gay man so I'm more up on things than you might imagine, tom42. But he hasn't come along in a few years now, and I know how fast things change in PV (what's hot, what's not).

For 'good eats' I really like The Red Cabbage (a bit out of the way but worth the effort). Coco's Kitchen is a fantastic restaurant and place to hang out, large beautiful patio, decent food, friendly service. I really like the food and the staff at el Mole de Jovita on B. Badillo. Fredy's Tucan at Posada Roger (right across the street from Jovita's) is a fun breakfast place as well. Go when it's not crowded and sit on the patio.
