Galapagos Pictures Ready

You can find my pictures at http://www.flickr.com/photos/calbillstravnstuff/ Click on the Galapagos Island picture, top right, then look at them as a slide show, or one at a time which will also show the captions. If you just scroll down they are in reverse order. Enjoy.

Nice photos. My favorites were Tortoise in the wild and Where have you been?

You have some good underwater shots. What kind of camera was used for those?

Thanks atravelynn. Just noticed your question, sorry for the delay. I used a Pentax W30, purchased new for this trip for under $300 from a local camera shop. I am a snorkeler only, but I was determined not to use those disposables and end up with not so good pics. And I didn't want to spend the $5-600 needed for full scuba work. The camera exceed my expectations. Without case of any kind, it is good to ten feet for 30 minutes or so.
It is also great on land. The birds in flight near the end of my flickr photos were shot with it, zoom extended. I am pretty proud of the albatross, hawk and swallow-tailed gull.Oh, yes, "Where have you been" was also with the Pentax W30.
Thanks again.
Bill.

You were exactly where I am with the underwater camera situation. Thanks.

Thanks for the pictures Bill.

The Galapagos and New Zealand pictures brought back fond memories.

I am leaving on a Baltic Cruise in August, so many of your pictures were helpful.

Thanks Again
Percy

This is what this board is all about. I've gotten so so much info and benefit over the years, glad to be a provider of info once in a while.
atravelynn: It is a very small camera, and I was suspicious. Tried it out in my pool at first. I was convinced it would fill with water. Of course it didn't. One thing, be sure to get a clip of some kind for the wrist cord. As provided, it is kind of loose, and I was terrified that it would fall off my wrist. The LCD is pretty good, (all of them are hard to see for me) there is an underwater setting and you're good to go. I could not find it at the normal retail outlets, but our local camera shop was all over it. Check the Pentax web site for complete details. Good luck!
Percy: Have a great time on the Baltic cruise. We're still talking about it.

Fantastic photos, thanks for sharing! I can't imagine what it would be like to be that close to the seals...aaw!

Bill, do you have to take the camera out of the water after 30 min? Or you can still leave it in the water but not take any more pics?

Thanks for sharing your photos.

Bill,
Great pictures, thanks for sharing. Which company did you use? How long was the trip, what time of the year? Thanks
