Four Seasons Punta Mita Question
 

I've read a few postings on this website and others about the FS Punta Mita meal plan, but haven't seen enough detail to figure out my own answer. My wife won't want to eat at the other restaurants in Punta Mita (although they sound charming), so we will be eating in the hotel. We tend to eat a full breakfast, eat lunch erratically (some days yes, some days no), then eat a large dinner. We're likely to eat at Aramara every night based on the menus.

Given that we tend to play lunch by ear, my feeling is we wouldn't in any event get the Full American Plan meal plan (unless someone tells me the food portion of a poolside lunch bill tends to be $30 or more per person, in which case I would reconsider). I've read that the food portion of an Aramara dinner is probably about $60 /person. So if breakfast is $39 or less, the Modified American Plan meal plan doesn't sound like such a hot deal either. I've read that the breakfast buffett is $25 /person. Is that right? We're actually more likely to get room service breakfast, can anyone who has stayed there lately confirm what the price tends to be?

I might be able to help you if you tell me the current prices of the meal plan. FYI, I am from Philadelphia and no stranger to high prices and I did not think the food prices at Aramara were exorbitant -- what was really expensive was the drinks and service charges. They had a deal at Aramara where for 500 pesos (less than $50 at the time) you could get an entree, appetizer and dessert and this included any item on the menu except lobster. And it's hard to imagine lunch being more than $30 pp for just food. I recently had lunch at the FS Nevis (which is more expensive than Punta Mita) and the total bill with beverage and service charge was $27 for one person.

$99 for breakfast and dinner, $122 for breakfast/lunch/dinner. If you know about what room service breakfast costs, that would be great. Sounds to me like meal plan is no deal.

I should add that those meal plan prices include service charges, in case that makes the answer different (I assume it doesn't).

This was two years ago, but when I went the prices were $95 and $115 for those plans and I recall being really happy I did not take anything other than the bed and breakfast package, based on what we spent on dinner at the Four Seasons (we ate breakfast as a brunch around 10:30/11 and did not have lunch). However, I do remember that I was told that service charge was in addition. It does make a difference if service charge is included as 15% really adds up. I can tell you that based on room rates, the breakfast package costs $50/55 per night for two. None of the packages was any great savings regarding meals, the breakfast package perhaps saved as a few dollars as well as the convenience of having it all prepaid, what was a great deal at the time was the unlimited golf package -- my husband played so much I think they lost money on him and don't offer it anymore :( Given the current prices, if you are going to eat every meal at the FS and service charge is definitely included, it's probably pretty much a wash -- you won't save a lot unless you are huge eaters but you may not lose much by overspending on the plan. If you like the idea of having it all paid for and knowing how much it will cost, it might be the way to go. I don't know about room service, why don't you e-mail the concierge about that. The ongoing issue with FS meal plans seems to be what is and what is noti ncluded -- I know there is a hefty room service fee -- is that included? Also, at breakfast, we were never charged for beverages (even soda) so were they included in the plan or did someone just make a mistake? We never really found out. Have a great time it's our favorite resort.
