Four Seasons Punta Mita
 

I will be vacationing in May at the Four Seasons Punta Mita, and would like any advice from those who have stayed here. Thanks in advance!

My sister and her husband stayed there this past december and loved it! They raved about the attention to detail and beautiful rooms. My husband and I have rented a house in Punta Mita on the same beach as the Four Seasons and the area is gorgeous.

Our all-time favorite beach/golf resort and we have been to many. You will have a terrific time. The property is very spread out and some rooms are quite far away from the main area so if you don't want to walk a lot, request a room in a centrally located building -- we were in Tortuga and it was a great location. You didn't mention what category room you are staying in but the premium oceanview rooms (on the 3rd floor) had incredible panoramic views of the coastline/ocean/waves crashing on the rocks. I don't know if I would pay the major price difference for that as compared to a garden view but we were upgraded from a partial ocean view so of course thrilled. If it is a special occasion and you let the concierge know in advance you may get upgraded and get some treats such as a cake, champagne, etc. We spent one evening going into Puerta Vallarta and don't know if we would do that again, the resort is so special we didn't really enjoy being away from it. There are several good restaurants in the little town of Punta Mita right outside the resort gates -- if you ask them they will take you right to the gates on the golf shuttle (it's a long walk) and then it is only two blocks to town from there.

We have two connecting garden view rooms. I cannot justify a higher catagory due to the cost of two rooms. I believe I will request a rooms away from any potential construction. Any ideas as to which building would be good? Do I need to book dinner reservations, spa treatments, golf, etc prior to arrival, or can I wait until I arrive and book the day prior or the day of?

Since it is May, you probably don't need to book much in advance unless you want one of the special private dinners they prepare such as dinner on "The Rock" or on the beach, I understand those book up early. We had the unlimited golf package (I don't think they have that any more) and my husband had no problem playing 36 holes a day, the golf course was not crowded. You can find a resort map on the website -- it's a bit hidden, click on the meeting planning option and go to meeting rooms and then scroll to the bottom you will see a link for a resort map. Where they have labeled residence club or private villas is where the construction will be -- if you pick a building centrally located within the resort you will not be near any construction, the beach grill and Tamai pool are new but they are all complete now.
