Four Seasons Buenos Aires?

My fiance and I will be going on our honeymoon in Argentina in Dec/Jan '09 - our travel agent has strongly pushed the Four Seasons in BA, but I have read some wonderful things about the new Park Hyatt (which she says is "dark and minimalist"). Any comments on this? I want to trust her, but I"m used to doing my own planning! Thanks!

The Hyatt is just wonderful and I don't know about "dark" but it is new and beautiful. The service is great.
The neighborhood is about as good as you can get .

The Four Seasons is not that far from the Hyatt and is also a wonderful marble extravaganza with great service.

You really can't go wrong with either one..

Look at Concierge.com and do a search on Buenos Aires..they are always talking about these hotels..

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding ((F))

I stayed at the Four Seasons in 1998 -- at that time it was branded as a Park Hyatt. There's nothing particulary special about the main hotel (standard, 5-star hotel) -- there's a grand mansion next door, but that's usually taken by the likes of Madonna. When I was there, Kerry Packer, then one of Australia's richest men, was in the mansion. I'd choose the Alvear over the Four Seasons since I like history and a hotel that has a sense-of-place -- the FS is nice, but could be anywhere.

The Four Seasons might have changed a bit since 1998..

Read up on the Alvear..although it is not my taste..it might appeal to you..it certainly does appeal to people, they pay an awful lot to stay there :)

Yeah I think the Alvear is a bit too old fashioned for us, plus it's actually significantly more expensive than the Four Seasons or the Park Hyatt...

I stayed at the Four Seasons last November and loved it. (Have reservations to go back later this year.) Staff is wonderful, big rooms/bathrooms. The pool will be great that time of year. Pool attendants bring around baskets of suntan lotion and ice water. Poolside food service too-Perfect!

That does sound lovely! I want to go now haha.

You might check with Cintia at WOW Argentina. They advertise that they have discount rates with the Four Seasons. I am using her to plan my June trip to Argentina and I have been very pleased with her service.

Hi I stayed in the Four Seasons in Buenos Aires and enjoyed a lot. A had a very nice deal through WOW
Argentina too. Service was excellent as well as breakfast and they provide me with a cell to get calls while I was out, this was neat.
