Food
Hi all,
I'm going to Costa Rica in mid-December traveling in the Arenal Sarapiqui region and was wondering if it's safe to eat the foods and drink the water. Any advice on where to get bottled water/ food for picnics? thanks |
I just returned from Costa Rica and had no problem drinking the water or eating the food. Bottled water is available everywhere if you prefer it to tap water.
|
thank you. Did you eat in road side stands or just in established restaurants?
|
My wife and I ate 75% of the time at neighborhood sodas and never had any problems. It was also real cheap. 2 plates and 2 drinks for roughly 5-7 dollars total.
|
I just got back too and ate anywhere and everywhere with no issues ever.
Great cheap food all over, and as easy to get bottled water as in the US. |
I also just got back and ate everything and drank the water with no problems.

I didn't find the traditional CR dishes to be all that great, but it is fairly safe. However, Hep A shots are recommended. Not a bad thing to have whether or not you're going to CR.

Totally agree with RTF.
Beans and rice, rice and beans - Salsa Lizano is PDG with same: a bit boring, but VG. My internist recommended Hep A and B. I guess he thought I was living in a faster lane than I can handle. M |
