Flores to Tikal

We will probably fly in/out of Flores for our side-trip from Belize - we will spend 2 nights in Tikal.

What is the general way to get from the Flores airport to Tikal? Should we rent a car/driver? Any recommendation?
Is there a bus or shuttle?
Do the park hotels generally provide the transfer? Thanks

Your hotel should be able to provide a shuttle or refer you to one.

You can go with a collective shuttle, hire a taxi on the spot, or arrange through your hotel or a local agency. My favorite hotel in the park is the Tikal Inn; the 2nd link is the agency I normally use for transport in Guatemala and recommend.

Hopefulist,
Roxy is on my list, thanks to you and a million others who recommended her :)
Thanks

When I had Tikal on my list for a sidetrip, I emailed Roxy and she will also do the transport from Flores to Tikal.

Deb,
Great to know, thanks - I've been following your planning ups and downs. If you're like me, the second you think it's "over", and that's what it is, you start having second thoughts, and the turmoil starts again...

But I agree, a good problem to have.

I just came back from doing the overnight tour with Tropic Air, We flew from Belize city to Flores, once in Flores transportation from the airport to the hotel was taken care of. The following day when the tour officially began everything was already taken care of; breakfast, transportation from hotel to Tikal, lunch, snacks, and finally transportation back to the airport for our flight back to Belize.

latintraveller,
Thanks for sharing your recent experience - hopefully others will use it, we decided to skip Tikal this trip.
It was too much travelling for just one day, and there was a lot else we wanted to do in Belize. We'll save Tikal for a Guatemala trip.
