Flights in Costa Rica

Given a choice, would you fly or take a bus from Arenal/La Fortuna to Quepos? Is there any interesting lanscape if we take the cheaper (bus) alternative?

We hired a private driver. There are some nice views along the way, and you can stop at the Rio Tarcoles to see some huge crocs down below. We usually save flying for areas that are harder to get to like Tortuguero or the Osa. Are you talking about the Interbus shuttle or an actual public bus? If you take a public bus, I'd be very careful about keeping an eye on my stuff while on board.

How did you go about hiring a private driver? I was looking into Interbus.

We always book them through our hotels when we reserve them. Interbus is a more affordable option, but we like to set our own schedule.

I don't recommend taking a public bus from Arenal to Quepos as you would have at least one transfer. Shuttle services such as interbus are good. It is wonderful way to see the CR countryside from the mountains in Arenal to the ever progressing beach atmosphere when you get to the coast. If you would like a more personalized tour with a private driver, I can recommend Carlos Bogarin

By hiring a private driver, you will enjoy the personal interaction with your driver re: their knowledge of the area, recommended restaurants and stopping briefly if you see something that interest you. Feel free to repost if you have further questions. Have a wonderful vacation! Lisa in Playa Hermosa

odysseytourscr.com drive guides my fav
interbusonline.com better than bus if budget
air expensive you have to change planes iffy weather
I avoid this unless pressed for time lots to see and do.
usually for me hotelvillacaletas.com makes a nice stop for
lunch or an overnite mapcr.com distance 220 miles or so good to break up your journey halfway.

Have fun,

I've used Interbus a lot, including that route, and it's always a great experience. I'd probably only use a private driver if I were going off the beaten path or 3+ people.

We used Wilson Rojas twice on our visit to CR. He was great and it allowed us to really look around at the scenery and avoid stressing out!

Carlos and Wilson are both favorites on this board.

How do I find Wilson Rojas?

See if one of these [email protected] or [email protected]. It's been awhile so I'm not sure, but I think the first one is still valid.
